On
August 2nd, 1874, a new constitution was introduced for
Iceland's Independence and was known as "The Day of the
Icelanders." Icelanders from all over the United
States, Canada and Iceland gather in Mountain to celebrate
the Annual Icelandic Celebration. This event is the
oldest ethnic festival in North Dakota and the largest
Icelandic
ethnic event in the United States.
The Deuce of August is a fun-filled weekend with
events for young and old with a variety of interests.
We celebrate our Icelandic heritage and share our cultural roots
with family, friends, and visitors.
It is always held during the weekend before the first Monday in
August.
If you are traveling to the Deuce, there is lots of
area lodging
available throughout the area.
See you at the Deuce of August, it's Legendary!
